As Disney prepares to celebrate its 100th Anniversary in 2023, we decided to give you a breakdown of the Disney locations you can visit globally.

All Disney locations are great family destinations. With parks in the US, Japan, China, and France, you won’t have trouble making it to at least one of Disney’s resorts.

However, sometimes there is confusion regarding what a Disney location is. There are six Disney Resorts worldwide, two of which are in the United States. These are full-fledged resorts with amusement parks in them. The total number of parks is twelve, all located at the six resorts.

Additionally, there are three Disney locations in the US with no theme parks.

Disney Locations with Amusement Parks

Walt Disney World Resort, Florida, USA

Disney World in Florida is the world’s best-known Disney location. What many people refer to as Disney World is, in fact, the Magic Kingdom park located there. The park opened in 1971 and was initially meant to supplement Anaheim’s Disneyland, which had opened in 1955.

The other theme parks at the resort are Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

There’s a reason why Disney World is so famous: it also features two waterparks and a theatre where Cirque du Soleil had performed its iconic show La Nouba and is now presenting Drawn to Life, an all-new collaboration created with Disney.

Walt Disney Resort is a perfect family destination with so much to offer visitors of any age. With so many affordable flights to Orlando, you must visit the resort at least once!

Disneyland Resort, California, USA

Anaheim’s Disneyland is the original theme park opened by Walt Disney. Unlike in Florida, the resort only has one theme park: Disney California Adventure.

In terms of size, Disneyland is 51 times smaller than Disney World. However, it is still an excellent place to spend several days and experience the Disney magic. Being the original park whose design was overseen by Walt Disney himself, it has that extra magical historical touch.

Tokyo Disney Resort, Tokyo, Japan

The Disney Resort in Tokyo features two theme parks: Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. The two parks should keep you and your young ones entertained for at least 3-5 days, but you can always come for a shorter day trip. It’s definitely a must-visit family destination when you travel to Japan.

Disneyland Paris, Paris, France

Paris is full of landmarks and amazing sights. But if you’re traveling with your family, you don’t want to miss out on visiting Disneyland.

The resort has two amusement parks: Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios Park. Like the parks in Florida, you’ll find the fairytale castle, all the characters your children love, and many rides. The resort is great to visit for a day or longer. While the biggest Disneyland is in Florida, the one in Paris is the third-largest.

Shanghai Disney Resort, Shanghai, China

The Disney Resort in Shanghai is the newest Disney location. You’ll find the Shanghai Disneyland as its theme park.

This is Disney’s second-largest resort after Disney World. And it doesn’t disappoint.

The fantastic thing about Disney’s parks is that they don’t overlap, so even if you’ve been to other Disney parks in Asia or elsewhere, you’ll enjoy your stay in Shanghai. This resort is absolutely Disney, but it pays homage to the Chinese culture of Shanghai.

When creating the resort Bob Iger and the team at Disney were driven by the “authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese” motto. Once you visit, you’ll see that the resort offers a unique blend of Chinese culture and Disney magic, allowing you to enjoy a one-of-a-kind adventure.

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, China

This resort in Hong Kong has the flagman Disneyland as its sole theme park. The size of the park is smaller than the one in Shanghai. But it’s still a great park to visit, especially considering its proximity to the city.

With Disney’s magical atmosphere and captivating attractions, Disneyland in Hong Kong provides unforgettable memories for the entire family. See all the Disney characters, enjoy the thrilling rides and the family shows.

Disney Locations Without Theme Parks

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

The Vero Beach resort is located in Florida. It’s a great place to spend time with the family, but you won’t find theme parks or rides there. But there are campfire sing-alongs, kayak adventures, and other family activities.

The stunning ocean views and charming Disney-themed touches provide an unforgettable vacation experience.

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort

This picturesque resort in South Carolina is a splendid coastal retreat offering families a relaxing vacation away from the hustle and bustle of amusement parks. The resort is situated in the beautiful Lowcountry of South Carolina and provides a perfect blend of outdoor activities, serene surroundings, and the hospitality Disney is known for.

Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii

The Aulani Resort in Hawaii is an excellent resort to spend time with the family. Enjoy the beautiful Pacific Ocean beach, and get thrills on the Pu’u Kilo water slides. While no theme park is here, Aulani is a superb resort in beautiful Hawaii.

Which Resort is Worth Visiting?

All of Disney’s resorts are worth visiting. If you want to spend more than a few days, Disney World in Florida and the Shanghai Disney Resort are your best bets. The original Disneyland in Anaheim is smaller but well worth the visit.

Disney’s Tokyo location is similar in size to the one in California. The Paris and Hong Kong locations are mid-size and great destinations for shorter trips.

The Disney locations without the theme parks are perfect relaxation destinations but don’t come with the magic castles and theme park rides. But they make up for it with the opportunity to spend quality family time together.

Because all of Disney’s locations are in amazing cities for families to visit, you can always plan a vacation to one of the cities and set a few days aside for Disney.
