Being the undisputed leader among U.S. airlines, United’s flight schedule in 2024 will continue its domination. The total number of transatlantic United flights in 2023 totaled more than all other U.S. carriers combined: United plans flights to 38 cities across the ocean, including top destinations such as Rome, Paris, Barcelona, London, Berlin, and Shannon. Furthermore, they will add the only flight linking the New York City metropolitan area with Faro, Portugal, and expand their network to include Malaga.

New United Airlines flights for 2024

Starting May 24, United Airlines will pioneer direct flights from New York/Newark to Faro, Portugal, becoming the sole carrier to link the United States and this picturesque destination. With four weekly flights operated on a Boeing 757-200, travelers can easily explore Portugal’s Algarve region, renowned for its stunning beaches and rich history. United Airlines already boasts an extensive presence in Portugal, offering year-round service between New York/Newark-Lisbon and seasonal routes from Washington/Dulles-Lisbon, New York/Newark-Porto, and New York/Newark-Ponta Delgada, Azores.

In addition to adding daily flights from Chicago to Athens, more good news follows: on May 23, United Airlines will resume seasonal flights between Reykjavik and New York/Newark. The daily service will be operated on a Boeing 757-200 aircraft. Additionally, United will enhance its European offerings by introducing a second daily frequency between New York/Newark and Brussels, starting March 30 with a Boeing 757-200, and another between Washington/Dulles and Rome, starting May 23 with a Boeing 767-300. Moreover, United will elevate its New York/Newark-Malaga route to daily service on a Boeing 757-200, beginning May 2. Those traveling from or connecting in Chicago will now be able to fly United to Shannon (Ireland) and Barcelona (Spain). With these flights for 2024, United will have 14 European destinations from Chicago O’Hare airport.

By adding a San Francisco-Rome flight, United will be giving U.S. travelers a chance to visit more Italian cities (the others being Milan, Venice, and Naples) than any other carrier.
